The most surprising part of my nutrition journey with SPN is that eating more actually works! We’re so wired to think that starving ourselves or eating less will help us lose weight. It’s been super eye-opening to fill myself up on protein, fruit, vegetables and then actually notice that I’m not craving as much sugar later in the day or evening – which was always a trouble spot for me!
Susan is more than just a nutrition coach – she’s a lifestyle coach and partner in the process. This journey is definitely about shifting habits in a healthier direction. She sends me recipe ideas, which has been very helpful in breaking up a boring family meal routine. She also checks in throughout the week to see how I’m doing and sends me motivational posts and information. I love her realistic approach to nutrition – it’s okay to treat myself sometimes, and if I’ve had a bad day, tomorrow is a clean slate.

Susan has helped me change my mindset around eating and food in general. I am no longer all about “fad” dieting but instead normal living and eating. I can enjoy food without the guilt and go on vacation and be okay. Basically stop the insanity that has always been in my head with food. I was able to go on vacation for three weeks and not be out of control with my eating and come home and stay in the mindset of losing weight rather than saying: “Screw it."

My mindset has shifted significantly since I started working with SPN. I used to hate exercising and would frequently binge-eat chips and candy. Now I walk through the junk food aisle and think about what Susan would do. She keeps me motivated and excited to get my steps in for the day. Also, Susan taught me that it’s okay to celebrate special occasions and not dread indulging in some sweet treats.
The idea of logging my meals used to be really intimidating but now I enjoy keeping track of what I consume and I appreciate the accountability. The way my body has changed in such a short amount of time is also surprising.
